This engine house was aquired and restored by The National Trust . The mine worked a N-S silver-lead lode from Job's Shaft - incidentally the only engine house still standing on Dartmoor. The mine is known to have been at work in 1740. It closed and reopened in 1806 and amalgamated with Wheal Friendship. It demerged in 1837, closed in 1846 and eestarted as Prince Arthur Consols in 1863.
