Cairngorm Mountain Lower Car Park

Campground

Description

At 635m high, Cairngorm Mountain is one of the easiest and most popular access points into the Cairngorms National Park. Parking is available for free, however a £5 per night donation is requested. No facilities but lots of space for campervans. Operating a car park at this altitude can be costly and difficult, due to challenging weather conditions particularly during winter. Your contribution towards car parking will help not only maintain and improve the car parks here on the mountain, but help to fund a range of projects and initiatives in the vicinity and thereby improve the environment.

The lower car park or Coire Cas is undergoing work at the moment. There are signs up saying you can overnight for a voluntary donation of £5. There are good views and there is the top car park nearby where there are toilet facilities between 8:30am and 5pm. The main downside is that if the weather is overcast without any wind there can be a lot of midges about.
