Description
Whatever the season, Ben Lomond has a dignity and a magic that for centuries has drawn artists, beauty-seekers, hikers and climbers.
Rising from the east shore of Loch Lomond to a height of 974m (3,193ft), Ben Lomond offers exhilarating walking and spectacular views across Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and beyond.
These excellent walking opportunities, and ease of access, attract over 40,000 walkers and mountaineers every year Ben Lomond is one of Scotlands most popular summits. However, the Munro and the surrounding area still retain the sense of wilderness that Rob Roy Scotlands famous Jacobite outlaw experienced when he roamed here over 300 years ago.
That sense of wilderness, in the enhanced quality of the natural habitats and landscape, is being protected for the future through the conservation work of Trust staff and volunteers. We regularly carry out tasks such as path repair, peat bog restoration, grazing control and native woodland expansion.
